Join us for a dynamic workshop on the business of being a showrunner. In this session, you’ll hear real stories from the trenches of producing and showrunning, including: 

• What a showrunner actually does day-to-day (and why it’s different from what people imagine)

• The business side of television — development, pitching, and selling a show

• How a project moves from idea to production to distribution

• Working with talent, networks, and budgets in the real world

• The importance of problem-solving and leadership on set

Join us to mingle with other students and filmmakers, and learn how to start building a career in this challenging and exciting industry. 

About the presenters:

This workshop will be presented by Christiana Carroll-Becerra, an Emmy-nominated Executive Producer and Showrunner best known for the acclaimed HBO and DIRECTV series A Tiny Audience, and moderated by Rechna Varma, producer, director, and Associate Professor of Professional Practice at the University of Miami.
