DEA Citizen’s Academy Graduate, SIMUNITION instructor, Tactical Pistol Instructor, Civilian Armed and Unarmed Security, Hand to Hand Combat, Blade Training, Improvised Weapons, Private Investigator and, Gun Law Seminar Advocate.
How it all started:
I was a regular, active woman in her 40’s with no formal firearms experience or training, until I became a victim of crime (threatened and attacked in my convertible, on a local thorough fair, in broad daylight). Although I was not seriously harmed, the experience sent me upon my quest for security information and training, which led me to a career in the field and my business, Personal Security Resources, LLC. Where I focused on Women/Family/Children’s safety and firearm education. My own firearms instructors, with Home Safety Academy and Tactical Firearms Academy also offered me positions as an adjunct instructor.
Currently:
Although I am retired as an NRA instructor and Range Safety officer, as well as armed security, I continue to consult in the areas of gun selection, safe gun handling, storage, firearms/self defense training/resource referral, improving personal safety and effectiveness in and out of the home and kids safety. Furthermore, now that I am involved in the modeling and acting field again, I would like to expand into technical consulting, and safe, authentic firearms handling for actors, both on and off the set. Even a starter’s pistol or firing “blanks” can be dangerous at close range and I can’t tell you how many times during the course of watching films and tv programs I have thought to myself “they are holding/handling their gun wrong”! I say, If you are going to do it, then do it right.
In conclusion:
Whether you own a gun or not, man or woman, young or old, everyone should know the basics of safe gun handling and personal security.
