Join us for a dynamic workshop on the business of being a showrunner. In this session, you’ll hear real stories from the trenches of producing and showrunning, including:

• What a showrunner actually does day-to-day (and why it’s different from what people imagine)

• The business side of television — development, pitching, and selling a show

• How a project moves from idea to production to distribution

• Working with talent, networks, and budgets in the real world

• The importance of problem-solving and leadership on set

Join us to mingle with other students and filmmakers, and learn how to start building a career in this challenging and exciting industry.

About the presenters:

This workshop will be presented by Christiana Carroll-Becerra, an Emmy-nominated Executive Producer and Showrunner best known for the acclaimed HBO and DIRECTV series A Tiny Audience, and moderated by Rechna Varma, producer, director, and Associate Professor of Professional Practice at the University of Miami.

Join WIFT-FL and Miami Action Design co-owners and film stunt professionals Yessenia Cossio and Christopher Bogdanski Shore for a hands-on workshop on the art of action design.

The workshop will include:

Show and tell presentation
Introduction to stunts and the art of fight choreography: camera angles, safety, and on-set do’s and don’t
How it benefits both actors and directors to have a profound knowledge of action design
Interactive workshop! Wear athletic clothes and be prepared to move (if you want to!)
